Radisson Hotel Group to Expand its African Portfolio with Eight New Hotels and 1,600+ Rooms

Globally, the hotel group increased its international portfolio by over 30,000 rooms across 10 brands. Since launching its transformation plan in 2018, the company has grown by almost 50%.

For 2024, Radisson Hotel Group plans to open 14 new hotels in various Middle Eastern and African countries. In Africa, the group signed eight new hotels in 2023, adding over 1,600 rooms to its portfolio, aiming to raise its African hotel count from 100 to 150.

Ramsay Rankoussi, Radisson Hotel Group’s vice president of business development for Africa and Türkiye, expressed excitement for the upcoming year. Five hotel openings are expected in Africa, strengthening the group’s presence in key countries like Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa, while also focusing on growth in East Africa, particularly in Kenya and Tanzania.

Radisson Hotel Group will introduce its first standalone serviced apartments in Egypt with Radisson Residences Cairo Heliopolis and debut in Morocco with Radisson Hotel Casablanca Gauthier in Q2. In South Africa, Radisson Hotel Middelburg will be the 12th hotel to open, following the successful launch of Radisson Safari Hotel Hoedspruit, the first safari hotel in Africa.

Rankoussi highlighted the importance of resort expansion, citing recent openings such as Radisson Blu Resort Mosi-oa-Tunya in Livingstone and Radisson Hotel Saint Denis in Reunion Island.

Over the past three years, the group has opened 20 hotels in Africa, resulting in a 15% annual growth for its African portfolio.
